The Swan Contessa
A swan rises out of a gold brocade gown in a wide pleated lace ruff, the long white neck turning to the light, the orange and black bill the only sharp colour in the frame. The gown is painted in champagne and old ivory with the brocade catching light along every fold. The palest and most opulent piece in the collection, and the one that lifts a dark gallery wall.
